The Arts
What is The Arts?
The visual arts include painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography. These art forms can be explored in a studio setting, or through classes at an arts school. Often, visual artists also take classes in art history to learn about the work of other artists and to gain a deeper understanding of the context in which they are working.
Performing arts encompass everything from theater and dance to music and circus arts. As with visual arts, there are often performing arts schools where one can take classes or participate in workshops. Or, one can simply join a local theater group or dance troupe. The important thing is to get involved and start doing.
Written arts include fiction, poetry, and screenwriting. These can be explored through taking classes, attending writer’s workshops, or simply by reading books and watching films in the genres you are interested in. Screenwriting, in particular, can be difficult to break into without some formal training.
