One of the basic things that students need to learn is basic math skills like addition and subtraction. The sooner they start learning these skills, the better. Addition and subtraction are two of the four basic operations in mathematics, the others being multiplication and division. Although they are both basic operations, they are actually quite different.

Addition is the process of finding the sum of two or more numbers. In other words, it is the answer to the question, "What is the total of these numbers?" For example, if you have three apples and two oranges, the total number of fruits is five. This is because five is the sum of three and two.

Subtraction, on the other hand, is the process of finding the difference between two numbers. In other words, it is the answer to the question, "What is the difference between these numbers?" For example, if you have five apples and three oranges, the difference between the two numbers is two. This is because five is two more than three.
