About Water Resource Management

Water Resource Management is the process of making decisions about how to best use water resources. It involves balancing the needs of different water users, such as farmers, industry, households, and the environment.Water resource management is often a complex and controversial issue, as different water users may have conflicting demands.

Water Resource Management includes the following:

  • Determining how much water is available
  • Determining who has the right to use the water
  • Allocating water to different users
  • Monitoring and enforcing water use

Water resource management is often overseen by government agencies, such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. However, different countries have different laws and organizations governing water resources.
