English 4: Composition and Grammar

Description

English 4: Composition and Grammar is the last in a series of one-half unit courses which stress a progressive mastery of language and writing. In this course, students begin by reviewing grammar, usage and mechanics. Student then engages in the writing process with an emphasis on creating interesting, well-constructed, concise and unified paragraphs and essays. Particular attention is paid to issues of style. Students focus on writing a personality profile (descriptive essay), subject analysis (expository essay) and a proposal (persuasive essay). They conclude the course by researching and writing a research report.
