ChessWize is an online chess academy for children roughly aged 5 to 15, built around live small-group and one-to-one coaching rather than puzzles or self-paced video. Sessions are taught by FIDE-rated coaches, and the platform sits on a structured beginner, intermediate and advanced curriculum with progress dashboards and weekly reports back to parents.

Families start with a free 30 minute level check, which is the useful part of the model. Rather than dropping a child into a generic beginner track, the first session establishes where they actually are and which group fits. From there the format options are group sessions, a two-student pairing, or individual coaching, each priced per session with bulk discounts on 24, 48 and 96 session packages.

Pricing is in Indian rupees and runs from 375 rupees per student per session for group classes up to 1000 rupees for one to one. That sits well below the typical US or UK rate for live coaching, which is the main reason a North American homeschooling family might look at it, though it does mean scheduling across time zones.

On safety, the site publishes a child safety policy and states that coaches are background verified. Contact is coach to parent through a support channel rather than open peer to peer chat, so there is no mechanism for a child to be messaged by a stranger. Sessions are live video with an adult in the loop.

What ChessWize is not is a place to play chess casually. There is no free puzzle library, no play against the computer, and no content to browse without enrolling. If you want your child to learn chess seriously with a coach who tracks their progress, this is a reasonable and unusually affordable option. If you want them to mess about with a board for twenty minutes, a free site will serve you better.
