EDDA EDU is a free browser learning platform with an unusually specific pedagogical claim, and the claim is the reason to look at it. Most self-paced courses interleave explanation and testing so tightly that a wrong answer tells you only that you were wrong. EDDA separates the two deliberately: a sequence of focused theory pages builds a concept, then a single synthesis task tests several linked ideas at once, and when you get it wrong the platform routes you back to the precise explanation that the error implicates, preserving your place so you return to the same task and attempt it again.

That four-step cycle, explanation then diagnosis then targeted return then second attempt, is applied identically across both subjects it currently offers.

The Spanish course is the more developed of the two. It covers beginner Spanish across 482 connected paragraph-pages arranged into nine themes. The distinguishing feature is that the Spanish material itself stays constant while the explanations around it are available in five languages: English, French, Portuguese, German and Russian. For a homeschool family where the student's stronger language is not English, or for a student who wants to approach Spanish through a language they already know well, that is a genuinely uncommon option.

The mathematics course covers US Grades 6 to 8 in a public beta, organised around Common Core domains: 24 units, 96 theory pages and 24 synthesis diagnostics. Grade 6 alone runs eight connected units, opening with ratios, rates and percent (6.RP.A.1 through 3) and operations and number structure (6.NS.A.1, 6.NS.B.2 through 4), and continuing through expressions, equations, geometry and statistical thinking. Each unit follows the same shape of four theory pages and one diagnostic, and the course map shows your progress across the whole sequence.

Practically, it is free with no account required, no advertising anywhere on the site, and no paywalled tier waiting at the end. Optional analytics cookies are offered with a genuine reject option. The mathematics side is labelled a public beta and the platform as a whole is young, so treat it as a supplement or a second explanation rather than the spine of a year, particularly in math where you will want a fuller problem set alongside it. As a free, ad-free, well-structured second pass at a concept a student did not get the first time, it is a useful thing to have bookmarked.
