Agentic Map

Agentic Map is a free, interactive web course that teaches beginners how artificial intelligence works and how to use AI tools well and safely. It is written for people with no tech background, and the site's own list of intended learners includes students, parents helping with homework, teachers, office workers and grandparents who want to spot scams. The course has no ads or paywall, and no account is needed to start: progress saves in the browser, and an optional free account keeps it in sync across devices.

The course is laid out as a map of 6 modules and 30 short lessons. The Basics covers what AI is, how chatbots produce answers, where their knowledge comes from and why they sometimes get things wrong. Talking to AI covers clear prompting and following up on a first answer. AI in Your Day looks at writing, learning faster, planning and decisions, and includes a lesson on helping kids learn with AI. Staying Safe covers made-up answers, health, money and legal questions, what not to share, and spotting fakes and AI scams. AI That Does Things introduces AI agents, including how a webpage can trick an agent, and Making It a Habit ends with a personal AI plan.

Each lesson is a few short reading cards followed by quick questions with friendly explanations, and most lessons end with something to try in an AI app, often with a prompt to copy. The free versions of common chatbots work for these exercises. A Practice area brings back questions from finished lessons on a spaced schedule, and the site adds daily word games, a weekly quiz, a searchable AI glossary and a game mode for playing together on phones.

For homeschool families, Agentic Map is a practical starting point in AI literacy for a high school student, and just as useful for a parent who wants to understand these tools before guiding a teen. The Staying Safe module is especially relevant: checking answers, protecting personal information and recognizing scams. The site's terms set the age for accounts and shared games at 13 and over, with younger children exploring lessons alongside an adult.
