Exploring World History: History, English, and Bible

Exploring World History by Ray Notgrass is an integrated high school curriculum that weaves together world history, English composition, and Bible study into a comprehensive one-year course. Designed for 10th or 11th grade students, the program provides a thorough survey of Western civilization with significant coverage of Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
Like its companion course Exploring America, this curriculum can earn students up to three high school credits: one in world history, one in English, and one in Bible. The integrated approach helps students see connections between historical events, literary movements, and the development of Christian thought across cultures and centuries.
The two-volume student text covers history from ancient civilizations through the modern era, including Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Reformation, the Age of Exploration, the Enlightenment, the World Wars, and contemporary global issues. The writing is accessible and engaging, supplemented by primary source documents, historical photographs, and maps.
The literature component includes readings from writers across cultures and time periods, providing students with a global literary perspective. The companion review book includes daily questions, vocabulary work, and unit tests for assessment and accountability.
For Christian homeschool families, the Bible readings help students understand how the Christian faith has interacted with world cultures and historical movements. The curriculum examines the spread of Christianity, the role of the church in history, and how biblical principles have influenced civilizations throughout the ages.
