What is Information & Cyber Security?

Information and Cyber Security is the study and practice of protecting electronic information and systems from unauthorized access or theft. It includes both the hardware and software components of security, as well as the policies and procedures needed to safeguard data and devices.

The need for information and cyber security has grown exponentially in recent years, as the use of electronic information and systems has become more widespread and interconnected. Businesses, government agencies, and individuals all have a responsibility to keep their data and devices safe from harm.

There are many different tools and techniques that can be used to achieve information and cyber security. Some of the most important include:

  • Access control: limiting who has access to electronic information and systems
  • Authentication: verifying the identity of users
  • Encryption: transforming data into a form that is unreadable without a decryption key
  • Firewalls: blocking unsolicited traffic from entering a network
  • Intrusion detection and prevention: identifying and responding to attempts to gain unauthorized access

Information and cyber security is an ongoing process, as threats are constantly evolving. By staying up to date on the latest security threats and solutions, businesses and individuals can help to keep their data and devices safe.
