About Multiplication & Times Tables

Learning Multiplication & Times Tables

One of the most important things that students need to learn in mathematics is multiplication. Multiplication is a way of combining numbers to find a total. We use multiplication when we want to find out how many items there are in total when there are groups of the same number of items. Multiplication is easy to learn if you break it down into small steps.

The first step is to learn the times tables. The times tables are a list of numbers that are multiplied together to equal a certain amount. For example, the 2 times table is 2 x 1 = 2, 2 x 2 = 4, 2 x 3 = 6, and so on. Once you know the times tables, you can start to learn how to multiply numbers.

To multiply two numbers, you need to know the times tables for both numbers. For example, to multiply 7 x 8, you would need to know the 7 times table (7 x 1 = 7, 7 x 2 = 14, 7 x 3 = 21, and so on) and the 8 times table (8 x 1 = 8, 8 x 2 = 16, 8 x 3 = 24, and so on). To find the answer, you would add the two numbers together: 7 + 8 = 15. So, the answer to 7 x 8 is 15.

It is important to practice multiplication often so that you can become confident and fluent in it. There are many games and activities that you can do to practice multiplication. You can also find many worksheets online or in mathematics books..
