Digital French language courses accommodate different world language objectives and learning styles.
French is the official language of more than 75 countries across five continents. It is an important diplomatic language and an official language of such organizations as the Olympics. There are over 220 million French speakers and many more who speak French as a second language. In fact, French is the second most commonly taught language in the world after English.
Middlebury Interactive offers a full suite of French courses from elementary to high school, including Advanced Placement®, with flexible implementation options. Our French language offerings provide varying levels of immersion methodology to accommodate different world language objectives and learning styles.
Through our online French courses, students focus on the four key areas of world language study: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The extensive use of authentic video, audio, images and texts allows for a contextualized and interactive experience with the vocabulary and linguistic structures. Cultural information relevant to francophone countries and communities and robust cross-cultural reflections are infused throughout the materials from beginning to end.

Middlebury Interactive’s engaging world language courses offer K-12 students the opportunity to immerse themselves in language and culture in an interactive, online environment. Developed by Ph.D.-level academics and linguistic experts, courses utilize real-world reading, writing, listening and speaking activities combined with task-based activities to accelerate language learning.
Our world language curriculum is supported by decades of research showing that students need exposure to authentic materials and frequent opportunities to interact in the target language in order to succeed. Task-based activities and interactive exercises are applicable to real-life settings and build confidence communicating in language.
Courses are available in Spanish, French, Chinese and German—from elementary through Advanced Placement®—and can be taken as self-paced, independent study or with the guidance of a certified virtual world language teacher.
