About Birds (Ornithology)

Ornithology is the study of birds. It is a branch of zoology, and covers many different aspects of birds, including their anatomy, physiology, behavior, ecology, and evolution. Because birds are found all over the world, ornithologists may study them in a variety of different habitats, from the Arctic tundra to the tropical rainforest. Ornithologists use a variety of methods to study birds, including field work, laboratory work, and computer modeling.

Birding, or bird watching, is a popular hobby enjoyed by people of all ages. It can be done in your backyard, at a local park, or even in your home. Birding requires patience and often a good set of binoculars to get a good look at the birds you are seeking.

There are more than 11,000 species of birds in the world, so there is always something new to learn. Birding can be a lifelong pursuit, with new birds to discover and new behaviors to observe.
