About Greek

The Greek language is an Indo-European language that has been spoken in the Balkan peninsula since the Bronze Age. It is the official language of Greece and one of the 23 official languages of the European Union. Greek has a long and rich history; it was the language of Homer and the New Testament, and was the first language to be written in the alphabet.

Today, there are approximately 13 million Greek speakers worldwide. Greek is a useful language for students of historical linguistics and Indo-European studies, and is also the language of the Olympic Games.

When learning Greek, the first step is to memorize the alphabet. This is important because the alphabet is the foundation for reading and writing Greek. Once you know the alphabet, you can begin to learn basic grammar and vocabulary.

The most important thing is to practice regularly. As you progress, you can challenge yourself by trying to read and write in Greek, watching Greek movies and TV shows, and listening to Greek music. With time and practice, you will be able to speak Greek fluently!
