AP United States History

AP United States History is a college-level course offered by the College Board. The course is designed to give students the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully complete the AP U.S. History exam. The exam is used by colleges and universities to determine whether or not a student is ready for college-level work in history.

To learn AP United States History, students will need to devote time to reading texts, primary sources, and other historians' accounts of past events. They will also need to develop critical thinking skills in order to analyze and interpret this information. In addition, students should be prepared to write essays that defend a thesis or viewpoint.

The exam covers American history from 1491 to the present, and is divided into two sections: multiple choice and free response.

The AP United States History course is divided into five units:

1. Founding Principles and Documents
2. Growth and Expansion
3. Civil War and Reconstruction
4. Gilded Age and Progressivism
5. Modern America

Within each unit, there are several key concepts that students should focus on. These concepts are essential to understanding the events that shaped our country's history.
