About Natural Sciences

Natural Sciences is the study of the physical world and its phenomena. It encompasses physics, chemistry, biology, and Earth science. The goal of natural science is to describe and explain the natural world.

Natural science is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe. In an old-fashioned way of thinking, natural science is sometimes said to be concerned with the "how" of the natural world, in contrast to the "why" of social science.

A central tenet of natural science is that it is empirical. This means that natural science relies on observation and experimentation to describe and explain the natural world. The scientific method is the foundation of empirical research.

Natural science is divided into the natural sciences, which study the inanimate world, and the life sciences, which study living organisms. The term "natural" is used to distinguish science that studies the material world from other fields of study, such as the humanities and the social sciences, which tend to be more focused on human behavior.

The natural sciences are further divided into the physical sciences, which study the inanimate world, and the life sciences, which study living organisms. The physical sciences include physics, chemistry, and Earth science. The life sciences include biology, ecology, and medicine.

Natural science is a dynamic enterprise. It is constantly growing and changing as our understanding of the natural world improves. New technologies allow us to study the universe in ways that were previously impossible, and new theories sometimes lead to the overthrow of old ideas. Natural science is an essential part of the human endeavor, and it will continue to be so for as long as we remain curious about the world around us.
